Health and Physical Education are integral parts of all we do at Whangarei Primary School whether it be through outside organisations, syndicate sports, or our own classrooms. 

For our tamariki, health and physical education have enormous social and physical benefits. We have weekly sports programmes at our school. We also offer skills training on a term by term basis, utilising the specific knowledge of Northland Sporting Agencies. In addition, we have annual events like Cross Country, Winter Sports, Swimming Sports, and Athletics Day at school. 

By encouraging our students to take full use of these fantastic opportunities, tamariki may enhance their social skills with their peers and increase their level of fitness in an enjoyable setting. Participating in regular physical activity while ultimately having fun is the aim of these various events.

Netball & Hockey Registrations for 2025

Netball Registrations:
Registrations are now open for netball in Terms 2 and 3. If your child is interested in playing, please complete the form using the following link:  Netball Registration Form 2025. Netball is open to students from Year 1 to Year 6.

Hockey Expressions of Interest:
Expressions of Interest for hockey in Terms 2 and 3 are also open. If your child would like to play, please complete the form using this link:  Expression of Interest - Hockey 2025. Hockey is open to students from Year 2 to Year 6.

Note: Year 1 students can register for Funsticks on the Hockey Northland website.
