international students

Our school welcomes international students as part of our school community.

The school is the largest primary school in the province of Northland. We have a diverse population representing over 25 different nationalities, reflecting the increasingly multi-cultural make up of our country.

Children enrolling at the school must be with their parent who must have Guardian Visa and stay with the child whilst in New Zealand. To apply please submit an application form, a photocopy of the student’s passport, a copy of the student’s birth certificate, and school reports.

Pastoral Care of International Students

International students enhance the learning environment of our school and provide a valuable cultural student mix. We accept up to ten international students at any one time. We have been accepted as a signatory and have agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students; published by the Ministry of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from the school or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at:

Visa Requirements

Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand immigration Service and can be viewed on their website at:

Eligibility for health services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at:

International students must have appropriate current medical and health insurance while studying in New Zealand.
