Kia ora whanau / parents
Wow! What an amazing week of celebration and fun we experienced last week at Whangarei Primary School - dress up fun, a special Anniversary Assembly, traditional games, Kapa Haka, a successful Open Day, a Talent Quest and our Evening Dinner. Speaking to guests and V.I.P.s at the evening function on Friday, I had great joy in telling the New Mayor, Vince Cocurullo, and Shane Reti, M.P., that Whangarei Primary School is the best school in New Zealand.
The final two weeks of school will be no less busy with surf trips, beach trips various other sporting and cultural opportunities for our tamariki and whanau. Due to an enforced change in surf trip dates (inclement weather), we are rescheduling our End of Year Citizenship Assembly to Tuesday 13 December starting at 10.00 a.m. Parents and whanau are more than welcome to come along to this celebration assembly where our class citizens are recognised for their mahi this year.
Finally, we will be having our usual "Summer Picnic" event on the Big Field facing Te Whare on Thursday 15 December from 5.00 p.m. onwards. Please bring along picnic food, MacDonalds, pizza or whatever you so desire to eat and drink (No alcohol please) and be entertained by our kapa haka groups, the choir and the marimba group. This is an informal, fun, end of year event, which is usually really well attended and enjoyed by our school community - please come along.
Keep an eye posted on our school Facebook page as we will be updating notices throughout the final stages of this term to keep you well informed of various events.
